Why are they called ‘deviled’ eggs? The word ‘deviled’ is a culinary term that goes back to the 1700s and meant that something is spicy or has lots of added condiments to it. The first deviled egg was traced back to Rome where eggs were boiled and served as a starter to a very fancy meal – where they typically added lots of spicey sauce to the egg mix. Now you can put a new twist on traditional deviled eggs by adding one of our 5 garlic spreads. We used the original garlic in this recipe. However, imagine using the sun-dried tomato or the chipotle flavor. Devilishly delish!

INGREDIENTS:

12 hard-boiled eggs, split in half horizontally
1 heaping Tbsp Joy’s Gourmet Garlic Spread (any flavor)
1 Tsp Joy’s Gourmet Garlic Infused EVOO
½ cup mayonnaise
2 Tbsp parmesan cheese, finely grated
2 Tbsp unsalted vegan butter, melted
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried dill
A pinch of salt
Optional: Fresh chives, diced

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Scoop yolk out from center of the egg halves, reserve whites.

  2. In a medium-size bowl mix all ingredients, except for the fresh chives.

  3. Using a spoon, or plastic bag (with corner cut), or piping bag, fill each egg cavity with the mix.

  4. Plate and garnish with a little sprinkle of paprika and chives if desired.

  5. Refrigerate until serving time.
